Shark Tank India 3 in legal trouble: Kashmiri Cricket Bat Association Takes Action

In a recent turn of events, the Cricket Bat Manufacturers Association of Kashmir (CBMAK) has initiated legal action against Sony Pictures Networks and Tramboo Sports Pvt. Ltd., the producers behind the popular reality show “Shark Tank India.” The legal dispute stems from claims made during an episode aired on January 30th, 2024.

Representatives from CBMAK, the recognized umbrella organization for all cricket bat producers in the Kashmir Valley, vehemently refuted the assertions made by the Tramboo brothers in an interview with Kashmir Dot Com, a local news source.

The CBMAK team expressed deep concern over the Tramboo brothers’ statements on “Shark Tank India,” alleging that they had disseminated misleading information to the public, resulting in significant harm to the businesses of CBMAK members. According to the CBMAK representatives, these misrepresentations have dealt a severe blow to the sales of their members’ cricket bats and tarnished the reputation of the entire Kashmiri bat-making industry.

Highlighting the superior quality of bats produced by CBMAK members, endorsed by various star cricketers, the association positions itself as the rightful claimant against Tramboo Sports.

“We are taken aback by the claims made by Tramboo Sports on the ‘Shark Tank India’ Season 3 episode dated 30th January 2024,” the CBMAK delegation remarked.

The CBMAK alleges that the Tramboo brothers falsely presented themselves as the exclusive manufacturers of Kashmir willow cricket bats, leading to detrimental effects on the sales and supply chains of CBMAK members’ bats. The misleading claims have not only impacted buyers but have also harmed the overall image of the indigenous industry, according to the association.

Asserting its role as the sole representative of Kashmir’s cricket bat manufacturers, CBMAK claims unwavering support from its members and positions itself as the guardian of the local bat manufacturing industry’s prosperity.

The association, through its legal representation, has issued a comprehensive legal notice to Sony Pictures Networks and Tramboo Sports, demanding an on-air apology within 15 days. Additionally, CBMAK has filed a legal notice seeking Rs 100 crore in compensation for the alleged losses, damages, and mental suffering endured by its members.
