Shark Tank India 3 Recap: Aman Gupta Takes a Tough Stance on Health-Based Company's Mushroom Venture

In the recent episode of Shark Tank India 3, entrepreneurs Jashid and Prithvi presented their health-based business centered around mushrooms to the esteemed panel of judges. The innovative concept raised eyebrows initially, prompting the sharks to seek a detailed explanation.

Prithvi explained that their product allows customers to cultivate mushrooms at home, emphasizing the health benefits. Additionally, they offered immune-boosting drinks as part of their product line, seeking a 50 lakhs investment for a 3% equity stake in the company.

Upon Vineeta’s request, the cofounders provided samples of their drinks and mushrooms. While some judges found the product gimmicky, Aman Gupta expressed dissatisfaction with the scalability and complained about the product’s smell.

When questioned about sales figures, Prithvi disclosed a modest revenue of 25 lakhs in the previous year, citing a 300 crores market for mushrooms. Disappointed with the numbers, the sharks deemed the venture non-viable.

Aman Gupta voiced strong skepticism, stating, “You guys have studied at BITS Pilani, and yet you are wasting your time on something like this.” People are going to the moon, and you guys are trying to grow mushrooms. Do you really think it is worth it?” He emphatically declared, “Mujhe aapka ye business bohot atpata sa laga toh main toh issme ek rupaye nahi dalunga.”

Ultimately, none of the sharks saw potential in the business, leading to a unanimous rejection of the investment proposal. In parting words, Ritesh, Peyush, and others wished the entrepreneurs luck, encouraging them to explore alternative avenues for their venture.
